Before you choose a desk: measure your space

Workspace with a Majorelle Arven Ultra desk; styling accessories not included

A desk that fits your room starts with a tape measure, not a product photo. These checks help you compare your space with the exact configuration you choose.

1. Measure the area you want to use

Measure the available width and depth. Note windows, radiators, sockets and any doors that open into the space.

2. Leave room around the desk

Allow space to pull your chair back and stand up, for drawers and doors to open, and for cables to reach a socket without stretching.

3. Check what the offer includes

A complete desk comes with a frame and a desktop. A frame on its own needs a desktop of your choice. Check the included items and the desktop size of the option you select.

4. Check the height range of a height-adjustable desk

Look at the stated height range of the selected configuration and make sure shelves, window sills or wall-mounted items above or behind the desk do not get in the way when it moves.

5. Plan where your cables go

A desk that moves needs cables with enough slack. Plan the route from your monitor and computer to the socket before you order.
